Cheeky boys and crafty mumma...

Been trying to enjoy the toddler of late... sometimes he drives me absolutely crazy (like at 4:20am and calling out at the top of his lungs, or staring me down when I tell him to do something), but he continuously catches me off guard with his cheekiness and cuteness.  He is so different to his big brother, who was full on but not quite as stubborn. I think he drives me nuts because he is shaping up to be much more like me! Oh dear.

Oh yes! He makes me laugh heartily!!!

Now for the crafty mumma bit... I actually have really bad "Tennis Elbow" which I am affectionately renaming "Crochet Elbow" as that is much more accurate!  However, thanks to a lovely brace I have been able to continue to create some lovely things, well, hats actually!!!

The top one is for a friends little baby girl and I found the pattern here. The middle one is a cloche hat which I'm not too sure about, but would love to know what others think. I found this pattern here and adapted it. However I do like her blog and think I will follow her! Then the bottom one is my fave but unfortunately is a little bit big.  I had pinned this and the second hat on Pintrest and am proud of myself for making something I pinned!  I'm still tossing up if I keep it or give it to my youngest brother who has also taken a real liking to it. Find this pattern here

Then there is the other boy! Oh he is growing up fast too. We have been learning his first set of "Sight Words" and he is not doing too badly!! I have been having heart swells every time he gets it right or just does his homework without complaining about it!!  This is our latest things to spice up his work...

Thanks to my friend Katherine at Saffron Threads who sent me this link for this Parking Lot game!!! It was a real winner!!!

Thats all for now... I am sure there will be more soon. I must take more photos!!!

an idea in the making...

I have a great idea! It involves, craftiness, mystery and crocheting! I need some willing friends who can crochet - or if you would like to learn I will teach you a few things or you can look on youtube for a tutorial.

Are you intrigued? So, are you in?

020: getting empty

Very excited! More clothes left today and am now starting to see space! Woo Hooo!

More exciting things for Asher!!! We went to a playgroup that my friend Helen had recommended today. Asher loved riding in the car with his new friend Mac and they played really well together. Asher loved the singing and stories and water play there so much we have decided to go back again when we can! We were hoping to check out the one up the street from us tomorrow but have visitors in the morning so maybe next week.
Also, for dinner tonight I decided that since Asher's new favorite game is cubby houses (under a blanket) we would eat dinner under the table and chairs instead of on it! This was a fantastic success for all of about 5 minutes! We had a few teething problems such as daddy being too tall to actually sit under the table so I made a few modifications to accomodate, but as Asher is a bit of a fussy eater he enjoyed it but we did get a bit of food around - so am moping tonight or tomorrow I think. But it was fun and will try some other fun dinner ideas I have to - you should try this some time...if you dare!

I am grateful for Helen who invited us along today and for the time we spent together - I am looking forward to much more time together!

One more thing for the day....

This week I am planning to go out and purchase a big roll of brown paper!

Why?

Because I can, AND because I think that there is something oddly creative about brown paper and natural string/twine and I am going to try and find things around the house that I can give to friends as gifts...

So if you are my friend, and you see me this week - be warned - I may have a gift for you.

(Lisa, I wish I had thought of this last week - your letter may have contained something fun... oh well will have to just write again - love D)

365 days to do...

On a recent outing with Katherine (minus children- the best kind of outings), we were in Borders having coffee and getting lost in amongst the books. Whilst wistfully browsing the cookbooks we came across a book called "Julie and Julia". I had never even heard of this book let alone know there was a movie about to be released about it. (Katherine kindly informed me excitedly.) Rather than tell you too much about it you can check it out at the Julie and Julia website, but its about food, blogging and from what I can tell 365 days to do something. Well anyway, if you aren't into blogging, cooking or projects in general - watch it and you will!

Anyway, along with all that I have heard about the 365 project a few months back and gave that a go but forgot to take photos every day but still I do like the concept of both blogging and doing something for 365 days. After much searching on the web for things I can do each day I also discovered a site where someone named Julie is getting rid of something each day in a way to declutter - so that really grabbed me to.

So with a bit more thought I have decided that I will try it! I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I will also write what I do in a journal each day and the days I don't blog I can catch up by looking back in the journal. Ok, this is how it works... each day I am going to do and blog about not 1, not 2, but 3 different things.

Each day I will...
~ get rid of something in my life I don't need {mostly house things}
~ think up an activity for Asher to do {this will be the hardest of all I think}
~ write about something I appreciate in my life
{I may even get a photo or two in there}

Ok, so here goes!!!
