Things I love 2

Today I love my friends old and new for their encouragement and that I got a FREE Gloria Jeans coffee. I needed it! (Clearly it was not with this card!)

Things I love...

As you may or may not be aware, I am not very good at those 365 day projects nor am I very good at blogging about a particular thing. However, I am goo at attempting new things like those things.

Today, this very book arrived on my doorstep and when I opened it I came up with my latest blogging project!!!

I am going to start telling you about the things I love. Each time I blog (note I did not say each day) I will post a thing I love. Sound ok? Yes. Good.

Like I said, I got my crafty journal in the mail today and the first thing in it was about Granny Squares. I was reminded about how much I love crochet but more importantly these little granny squares that started me off. So ...

Things I love... #1... Granny Squares!

A day of firsts.

My baby was off to school... And my other littler baby had his first rusk! Both seemed happy but this mama was a little sad at both events.

Out of the Ordinary

Today we went to the markets.  Our church is still on a break until next week and so we took advantage of the morning by getting up early and going to the markets.  Asher and I had a ride on a mini fire engine and he bought a little model jet plane.  We were going to buy lemon butter as it was handmade but when we left we forgot on the way out.  I like doing things like this. Things that are different and out of the ordinary.

You see as a stay at home mum I sometimes get stuck in a rut, as do most people I suppose.  I think this was why I loved living in Melbourne. It was always new to me and where ever I went was different to where I had been my whole life.  Whilst we could always move back there, we are now firmly planted here in Queensland.  I do love my life up here very much but living in the "burbs" there isn't a great deal of variety always.  However, I have decided that I would like to do something each day that is out of the ordinary. I may not find something every day but I would like to try. This year with Asher being at school I will have a bit of extra time to myself and with Zion so I am going to give it a good go.  Plus there are weekends to do stuff as a family.

What kinds of things do you do to stop from life being 'ordinary'?  What ideas could you offer me to do that are out of the ordinary?  Both places to go and things to do just at home? Here are a few that I might start with...
~ make myself a nice pot of tea and drink it in my 'good' cups.
~ take Zion for a trip into the city or beach.
~ go to the Friday night markets.

Oh I almost forgot! Yesterday I did something out of the ordinary - I climbed with my boy! (After this photo was taken he fell about 2 metres! So when he asked if I would climb with him I did!!!)

The importance of Family.

Friday night is officially family night in our house! There are the occasional nights that for some reasons we can't do it. But we will say no to most things to protect this time. It usually includes a special take out and or a trip out together. In warmer months the beach is our fave to go. We will get creative in winter I think. This time especially good for the kids to be able to spend time with both of us. We share it round. Brad might take Zion for a walk in the pram while I run after Ash on his scooter.

Little Lunch

When I was at primary school we had two breaks. One was "little lunch" and one was "big lunch". It made sense you have a little bit to eat at the first break and more at the second. I almost always had biscuits for morning tea and a sandwich for lunch. That's all I ate all day! I was ok with that. My little man is off to prep the week after next and I am going to have to make him lunch. Now, this sounds easy but put together a fussy eater, stringent rules on what you can't pack and a mother who is slightly unorganized and well, let's say I'm in a slight panic about it. All easy ideas would be readily accepted here!!

(The photo was my boys "little" lunch yesterday. He wanted to use toothpicks!)
