I woke up this morning if fine starting form! I cleaned, scrubbed, vaccuumed, wiped and mopped - oh and I did laundry! I thought I would get a good head start for a day I knew held alot of visitors and one birthday party to go to at the end of it.
Before my first visitors for the day arrived I washed and hung a load of washing which had been sitting in the machine for, oh, about 2 or 3 days and had been washed at least once a day only to be forgotten. Then as I felt I was on a roll I quickly threw in another wash of what ever was around. Most people sort their washing but I only sort the towels from the rest, unless something looks like it would run in the wash. After it had finished I lifted the lid only to find that snow fairies had paid a visit to my washing machine! Now, I know that washing machines hold mysteries that one cannot ever fathom, such as why do I always lose that one sock? or where did that button go? However, I have never had a snow fairy visit! I truly, honestly thought it was snow and was going to be cold when I touched it. My first thoughts were "What detergent did I use to make this happen?" Then I was just dumbfounded, that was until I spotted it!!!!
Yes, it was white and had a lovely smiling kangaroo on it and it was now the only thing in the machine that was seemingly unharmed. It was a disposable nappy (well actually it was a pair of nappy pants)!!! I still have no idea how it managed to make its way in there but it did - yes - I am hearing you say "Ewww! Gross!" and to be honest it was kinda. However I am happy to say that after some rinsing and rewashing the washing did get done. Although, I am going to have to use alot of rolls on my sticky roller to remove all the lint left behind!
Thankfully I knew I had to clean this fast as my visitors we to arrive any minute and I got it all cleaned up fine. We had a lovely morning with our friends!
Then I had a phone call from another friend who has a 2 yr old as well and we were just chatting about a few things as Asher ate lunch - we must have chatted longer than I knew because he came to me after a bit wearing no nappy and desperately trying to explain something to me with some very cute hand gestures! After I excused myself and got off the phone to find his nappy, (I sincerely hoped that maybe he had taken himself to the toilet) I followed my sweet darling up to his bedroom where with the sweetest smile ever, he pointed to the floor where I discovered not one but two lovely piles of ... well lets just say it wasn't pleasant! When I asked where his nappy was he proudly told me "In da bin mummy!" At which I couldn't get cross as he had tried to help. Thankfully it was also pretty easy to clean up.
I had a few more visitors after Asher's sleep and even got to go for a dip in the pool which was nice. Then tonight we had a lovely time at my SIL's birthday party where Asher enjoyed dancing the (early) night away with his friends and cousin!
I am sooo sooo sooo grateful for an interesting but lovely day all in one. As usually if you get the crap you don't always get the nice in the same day but today I did - literally!
