The thing about chicks...

Chickens that is, not the female humans. This past week all the Prep/1 classes have had baby chicks in their classrooms. They each got four already hatched chicks and an incubator with 13 eggs in it. Each morning we've been greeted with the teacher holding a baby chick. The kids all pay it and marvel at how big their getting or watch in hope that a chick will hatch in front of them. Our class hasn't been that fortunate as all but 1 egg has hatched either overnight or whilst they've been out of the classroom. Each morning as all the children file through to pat the chick I have a little shudder. I don't mind birds but from a distance. But it has been cute watching them hatch and listening to the children talk about them. They are there for another week so I guess we will get to see them grow too which will be nice.
