I have 5 friends who I definately couldn't live without! The plus 1 is my sister who, it goes without saying, I positively couldn't do without! So there they are my 6 besties!
Through the years I have had really close friends in my life and as we know, sometimes friendships drift apart and sometimes we let them go and sometimes we know we aren't meant to. 5 out of the 6 of my besties live close enough to me that it is easy to keep in constant contact. The other lives in Sydney and whilst we don't keep in contact as much, we always have each other in our hearts.
Between the 6 of them, they can cook, sew, bake, dance and sing (notice a pattern?) and many other things. But most importantly, they all know how to love, pray, encourage and fight (for all the right reasons). I can truly say that I would not be the person I am with out them.
They say that you can honestly only count your REAL friends on one hand... well in my case, as I have a sister I can use two hands!!! (So there!) But it is true that real friends are limited, and I truly feel sorry for those who don't have such trusted and close friends. However, I cannot take the credit for ANY of these friendships.
My sister I prayed for and God gave her to me.
The first of the 5 I don't know when we crossed over from just knowing each other to being best friends but I know it was when we were both in highschool, and there were many times that God knew we would need to be there for each other and we were.
The second I had only heard about through her brother but when we met it was as if we had been friends forever and were instant best friends. God knew we both needed that close friend at the time but we didn't know He would bond us for life.
The third I got to know whilst doing a women's study together, I didn't think we would end up as close as we have but through finding out so much about each other sometimes it has been like looking in a mirror. God again knew the friendship needs of us both and we have been able to help each other practically and physically, almost every week since we have met.
The other two, whilst I became close with both at the same time, there was a time earlier where one of them and I felt led to meet but the time wasn't quite right. However, when we three became close it was at a time that none of us thought we wanted any more friends in our lives, but God knew each of us and that we needed each other.
I constantly marvel at God's handiwork in each of these relationships, there is no other word for how I feel to have not just one or two but SIX women who I can call my sisters!
If you don't have even one close friend just ask God, He knows where they are!!!
Proverbs 17:17
A friend loves at all times, and a brother (or sister) is born for adversity!
